Obtaining property documents in Brasil
a) All documents regarding property ownership in Brazil are of PUBLIC DOMAIN;  they can all be obtained in the local Real Estate Notary, by paying a fee of approximately R$ 85,00 (for property registration) and R$ 95,00 (for original deed of purchase);
b) The profession of Real Estate Broker is regulated by a FEDERAL LAW and by the COFECI (which is the Federal Confederation of Brokers, which is like lawyers Bar Association, )
c) Federal Decree 81.871 of June 29th, 1978 orders brokers to, PRIOR TO OFFERING PROPERTIES FOR SALE, obtain copies of the documents that prove good standing of properties and to work ONLY with a formal written authorization of owner;
